I have a crazy way of storytelling and the best way I can explain it is as an experience that takes advantage of all five senses. To see the story, to taste it, to feel the emotions, to hear the characters, and to smell the changes that serve the plot, this is how I love to tell a story. I’m glad to be a 2025 Graphic Novel award winner for speculative fiction and I hope a time comes where speculative fiction writers admit that we ain’t crazy for experiencing story through our senses.

Working on Celestial Eyes has been a challenging experience and seeing it win a Nommo Award, being part of the creative duo, it’s like raindrops on a parched soul. Pencils, inks, flats, colors, I love to do all of these, I love to be a part of the creative and artistic process, despite how tasking it is but at the end of the day, it’s super worth it, so yeah, I am very grateful to be a solid part of this

About John Uche and Francis Goodluck

John Uche is an eccentric writer, poet, and lover of good stories. Professionally, he’s chosen to vary his writing in forms such as ghost-writing for books, scripting for comics and animation, and scripting for visual educational content. He has played the role of editor in a couple of projects. When he is not reading anything he can lay his hands on, John Uche is making himself something to eat. He’ll tell you that he’s not a foodie, just a man who loves to eat.
Francis Goodluck studies art as much as he creates art. From animating to making comics, he’s juggled both fields effortlessly and professionally. He loves high fantasy and sci-fi fiction; throw in perfectly designed monsters, and he’s sold completely. You’ll casually find him gaming or improving his skills by making random sketches, some of which are Not Safe For Work.
Part eco-horror, part psychological thriller, and part political speculative fiction, Womb City has been praised for its lyrical prose, bold worldbuilding, and its unflinching look at patriarchy, violence, and the surveillance state.
